  1. I found this video to be interesting! I took a class on how technology affected literacy and it forced us to think about technologies other than just computers. In that sense, technologies have impacted our lives in every area. Like the video said, they have improved our lives and the way we live and work, but they are ever changing. Students deserve to experience an education rich in technology because it surrounds them in their everyday lives. As teachers, it is our responsibility to integrate these technologies into our curriculum.

  2. I think that we can use technology as a tool to develop understanding and be able to manipulate our world to do the things we want it to do. I like how it helps us record history and progress into the future at the same time. I think our focus should be on using technology as a tool rather than just technology itself.

  3. I think the video was very well organized and thematic. The video could probably be used in classrooms and staff development seminars to help some individuals understand that technology started out long ago, and watch the progression of technology throughout our lives. I believe the video is correct, and not biased. I do not feel that the video was forcing me to do anything, merely providing someone's opinion on technology and his proposed suggestion. I agree with Jamie though, that our focus should not be on the technologies, but on using technology as a tool for our students.

  4. The pictures were very impactful. I felt that they represented the author’s point well (that technology helps society and should be continually expanded). To me pictures say more than words. I think it is easy to forget how far we have come in technology, but the chronological order of the pictures helped establish a timeline for technology. I felt the video made a good point about technology. In the form of bias, it did make it seem like if technology isn’t embraced, society as we know it will crumble. I think it is a great idea to use this video as a staff development or with kids. It is important for individuals to remember that technology isn’t just for education; it is also used for transportations, leisure, work, etc… This video helped you realize that.
-Also, the music could get a little annoying.

  5. I think the video was very interesting! I feel as though technology is constantly changing, and it is our responsbility to learn about new technologies and adapt them in to our new curriculum. I think it is important to use technology in all content areas. This video really can show how technology has changed throughout the years.

  6. I really liked the video. The pictures and dialogue worked well together and it seemed appropriate. I feel like the video is pretty accurate. We have come a long way through using technology and it is constantly changing. As teachers we need to stay on top of technology so we can teach our students all of the latest information. Teachers should use this information as a reminder that we cannot just do what's been done in the past. We have to continue to change our teaching so that we are teaching the newest information.

  7. I think that the message of the video was very important but that the execution of that message was lacking. I could barely read the text because it was placed over the pictures and the text was white. I agree with Jamie that we should use technology as a tool to enhance learning in the classroom. I do think it is important to look at the history of technology in order to understand where we are headed.

  8. I thought that this video was very interesting also! The part I found most enjoyable was see all of the different types of technology and how it has changed over the years. Each form of technology has been beneficial to everyone in the past. Without the knowledge and use of these amazing tools we wouldn’t see the benefits we have today.

  9. I think the pictures shown in the video were very powerful as well. To visually see how technology has advanced through the years is amazing. I think this video is right on about teaching students to utilize these tools. It is especially important to teach our students how to analyze information. "If we don't engage our students, we will enrage them." I agree with this quote, so as teachers we need to embrace these technologies and find ways to incorporate them into the curriculum.

  10. I think that the video was good. It gave a lot of concrete facts that should open the eyes of teachers and other professionals working in the field of education. I think that the video would also be good to show the students to get their views based on their views on technology. That would be a great way to compare and contrast varying opinions.

The simplicity of the video was helpful, but the actual viewing of the video was not interesting. That could have been intentional but it seem somewhat contradictory to what the video was about.... technology.

  11. I feel that this video was very beneficial to not only educators but everyone. It makes its viewers look outside of realm of what we realize and see how technology has truly affected the world and everything on it. I believe the video was correct in what it was saying. This video should make school leaders more aware of how important technology is to education and how keeping up to date on the constant changes is a necessity.

  12. Video was alright. Best thing about it was when it said, "The kids are ready." They are but it seems like the schools and the teachers aren't.

  13. I think the video was okay. The information could have been presented in a better way. However the I believe the content of the video is sound. I agree that we need to use technology to educate children in ways that are appropriate. If we don't they will not be prepared for what is to come. Students are ready to learn with technology, but they may not know how to use it the right way. We need to be there to educate them on the use of that technology. It is time for teachers and schools to change.

  14. I think the video on this youtube page is interesting. As it is a user-created video, it definitely represents a bias. However, I think it could be a good example of something you could show your class that represents how technology affects the world around them. Perhaps it could be a jumping off point for students to then create their own video of how technology affects them personally.

  15. I thought the words and pictures were powerful. It's true- technology is ever changing and if we as educators are not implementing and promoting the uses in our classroom, we are being left behind and we are doing a disservice to our students. I think educators need to be aware of the resources and tools that are available to us, and use them in every possible way to help our students and allow them to experience learning in a digital world!

  16. I thought that the images were the most important part of this video. I also liked that it did not have any audio speaking...it made the images and the words even more powerful. Not going to lie, the music was distracting! I think the biggest idea that we as educators should get out of this video is that technology really does shape the world. Looking at those older pictures of the printing press and the cotton gin, it reminds me of how much technology has impacted our world. To ignore or not use the new technologies would be to ignore our future.

  17. I thought this video was very interesting. The pictures truly show how much technology has changed over the years. Can you imagine what technology is going to be like in 20 years? I agree with the things that were said on the video. As educators, we must learn to use and implement technology in our classrooms. Students not only need to see their teachers using it, but should also be allowed to use it themselves. If we do not encourage our students to use technology, we will fall behind other countries. I also felt it was difficult to read parts of the video because the text was white.

  18. I would have to echo everyone when I say the video was interesting. My favorite part was when it said the kids are ready. I believe this to be true. I feel like there aren't enough technology resources for students to get their hands in the schools. Yet, we have a president who wants our schools to compete with the rest of the world. You can't compete without the technology and resources.

  19. I really liked this video. I liked how they should how technology has changed during the years. I also liked how the video stated that technology needs to be used to engage students to be creative. I think this is very important. I also liked how the video stated that teachers need to teach students how to use technology safely. If we don't teach them about technology, they will learn it on their own and that might be unsafe. I feel the video was very accurate.

  20. I thought the video did a nice job of showing how technology has evolved over the years. Its crazy to think just how much as changed since we were in elementary/high school. I think kids are always ready to learn new technology skills, and that it can be very motivating, even at the primary levels.

  21. Like most of my peers, I enjoyed this video. I especially agreed with the part that said that the kids will use the technology whether we incorporate it or not, but they may not use it effectively or safely without our help. Technology is constantly changing. The technology we use today will become obsolete before we know it! Our job as teachers is not just to teach students about current technologies, but also to prepare them to learn new technologies as they arise.

  22. The video conveyed the importance of staying current with new technologies and emphasized how technology permeates all aspects of life. As teachers, it is not only our job to follow technological trends, but also to creatively integrate them into our instruction and discover new pathways to student achievement via technology.

  23. I agree with the stance of many of our classmates. The video was not content heavy but still relayed a powerful message. The pictures alone relayed meaning and the simply statement supported them well. I agree with the producer that teaching technology needs to be in school curriculum. Our economic future is depending highly on technological advances. Whens students are literate in technology, they will experience a higher rate of success.

  24. I enjoyed the video. I think the most important thing that I took from this video is that the children will use the technology and find a way to use it whether or not we introduce it to them. We, as teachers, need to make sure that we are making it safe for them to use. Technology is a part of our society, and it is not going away any time soon. We need to ensure that we are giving our children the right tools and information to understand and use technology for their learning!

  25. I agree with Jessica Wood's statement in full. We need to use technology to show our students how to function in the real world with the same tools that they will use everyday. I personally think it takes more to make lessons that bring in technology because I never learned in this way, so I'm hoping to get these skills in grad!

  26. I like the approach of teaching past technologies and then moving into the technologies of today. This really makes you think about where we will be in the future. We want our students to be literate in all areas and not fall behind. They need to be able to change with the times.
